Discover Heidelberg and Nuremberg on a day trip leaving from Frankfurt.
Leaving Frankfurt, the bus will first head towards Heidelberg, located on the banks of the River Neckar.
Your guide will then take you to see the ruins of Heidelberg Castle. Enter the grounds of the romantic medieval castle built of pink stone to discover its vast gardens and multiple relics, as well as some curiosities including one of the biggest wine barrels in the world, the “Heidelberg Tun”!
You’ll then make your way down to the city centre for a walking tour lead by your guide. As you stroll through the city’s medieval streets, you’ll understand why Heidelberg is famous for its romantic charm. During the tour, you’ll be able to admire the city’s major monuments such as the old bridge and Heidelberg University, the oldest university in Germany.
After the tour you’ll get back on the bus where you’ll be provided with a packed lunch to eat as you head to the capital of Franconia: Nuremberg.
Discover the Kaiserburg, Nuremberg’s Imperial Castle, which was once home to the emperors of the Holy Roman Empire. Your guide will also show you the house of Albrecht Dûrer and St. Lorenz Church. Learn more about this city that has changed face several times in its history, between the trading metropolis of the Middle Ages, the Nazi Germany stronghold during the Third Reich, and the lively, welcoming city of today.
Enjoy some free time to explore and try out some of the local specialities, such as Nuremberg sausages and gingerbread.
At the end of the afternoon, you’ll get back on the bus and return to Frankfurt for the early evening.
