With the JR Kansai Hokuriku Area Pass, travel freely for 7 consecutive days on high-speed Shinkansen, limited express trains, and local JR lines in Japan.

You’ll be able to explore the must-see destinations of western Japan, such as Osaka, Kyoto, Okayama, Kanazawa, Fukui, as well as the Noto Peninsula, Kurobe Gorge, and even Naoshima Island. The pass is particularly valuable if you plan to visit multiple of these locations:

The pass also covers select railway lines operated by other companies and several local JR buses.

With your e-voucher, simply head to a JR ticket machine or ticket office to exchange it for your physical pass. You can then make seat reservations and pass through the ticket gates with ease.   • A voucher with a QR code will be sent to you by email after booking confirmation. Scan this QR code along with your passport at a ticket machine or JR ticket office in a major station to retrieve your physical pass.
  • You'll be asked to select a provisional travel date during booking, but the voucher remains valid for 3 months from the purchase date. You can choose the activation date when redeeming the pass.
  • The JR Kansai Hokuriku Area Pass is only valid on the designated JR West network. It cannot be used on other railway company networks unless specified (e.g., Hankyu Railway, Kintetsu Railway, Nankai Electric Railway, metro networks, etc.). Click here for coverage map of the pass
  • The pass is only available to foreign passport holders entering Japan under the "Temporary Visitor" status (valid for up to 90 days). You must show your passport with the "Temporary Visitor" immigration stamp when exchanging your voucher.
  • Japanese nationals, foreign residents in Japan, and travelers on non-tourist visas are not eligible for this pass.
  • Children aged 1–5 can travel for free without a pass (maximum of 2 children per adult), but they will not be entitled to reserved seats and must sit on an adult's lap. No restrictions apply to infants under 1 year.
  • Lost vouchers or passes will not be refunded or reissued. Unused vouchers can be canceled during their validity period if they haven't been exchanged.
  • The voucher is personal and non-transferable. When booking, please enter traveler names exactly as written on the passport.
  • You are advised to carry your passport with you when using the pass, as train conductors may check your identity.
  • You must purchase a separate ticket if you travel outside the areas covered by the pass.
  • The pass is valid for 7 calendar days, not 24-hour periods.
  • Reserved seats on certain Shinkansen and Limited Express trains can be booked at the station using your pass. For local trains and non-reserved seats, simply present your pass at the gate and board.
  • In addition to JR lines, the pass also includes access to:
    • Kyoto Tango Railway
    • Wakayama Railway
    • IR Ishikawa Railway (Kanazawa–Tsubata), Ainokaze Toyama Railway (Toyama–Takaoka) and Hapi Line Fukui (Fukui–Echizen-Hanando). Please note that getting on and off between these stations is not allowed
    • Local JR buses in Kyoto and Kanazawa
  • The pass also covers Sanyo Shinkansen trains (Shin-Osaka to Okayama) and Hokuriku Shinkansen (Tsuruga to Joetsu-Myoko), including Nozomi and Mizuho trains
    However, it does not cover the Tokaido Shinkansen (Osaka to Tokyo) and Hokuriku Shinkansen (Joetsu-Myoko to Tokyo).
