Discover Madeira's horticultural culture on this hike in the Machico Valley, also known as the Mimosa Valley!

You'll enjoy a transfer from Funchal and reach the Machico Valley in eastern Madeira. Accompanied by your professional guide, you'll hike 6 kilometers along streams and irrigation canals. You'll enjoy spectacular views of the flower fields that dot the valley, and understand why the Machico Valley is called the Mimosa Valley. 

You'll gain height and observe the traditional houses that surround the fields of the Mimosa Valley. On clear days, you'll even catch a glimpse of the ocean.

This hike, suitable for all levels, immerses you in the local life of the locals, and will offer you unique panoramas of the Mimosa Valley.

  • Availability: Wednesday (except in exceptional cases)
  • Starting point: Estrada Monumental in Funchal or from your hotel located in downtown Funchal
  • In the case of departure from a hotel or personalized address, the exact pick-up time and location will be confirmed to you after booking. If your hotel is located outside Funchal, a supplement of €10 will be charged on site 
  • Path suitable for beginners: 6km for an estimated walking time of 2h30
  • Whatever the weather conditions, remember to wear sturdy, comfortable shoes
  • The activity does not require a minimum booking, however this activity requires a minimum of 4 participants in total (if the minimum number of people is not reached, an alternative date will be proposed)
