Set out to discover the restored historic Laura Plantation, a domain formerly known as Duparc Plantation. Visit a Creole-style house built in the 19th century and part of a group of 15 historic plantations in Louisiana. Laura Plantation offers a talk from a former resident.
The plantation was run by 4 Creole women. The women ran the domain for over 60 years, and one of the hardest working was called Laura, hence the name. They took advantage of slave labour, and during the visit you'll be able to see where the slaves lived.
Your guide will tell you all there is to know about the plantation, from slavery to the 2003 fire that destroyed the house.
