Explore the Château de Rambouillet and its gardens, a former royal residence and now a presidential residence!

Following in the footsteps of France's leaders and explore the Château de Rambouillet, which is nestled in the heart of the Rambouillet forest. You can tour the castle on your own and learn about its history, starting from when it was built. The Château de Rambouillet has a rich historical past and numerous French leaders have stayed there: Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, Napoleon I and also presidents of the Republic including Charles de Gaulle.

After the visit to the castle of Rambouillet, you'll go to the Laiterie de la Reine (Queen's dairy). You can also visit the Chaumière aux coquillages (shell house). Not to forget a walk through the formal gardens with their canals and water features. You can also hire a boat, peddle buggy, bike or electric buggy for an even more fun tour.

  • Validity : every day except Tuesdays and public holidays (except in exceptional cases)
  • Hours : 10am to 5pm/6pm* (given as an indication, please visit the monument's website to check opening times)
  • Length : self-guided tour
  • Last admission: 30min before closing time (lunchtime and evening)
     
  • You are asked to select a tentative date when booking. Please note, however, that you will be able to visit on the date of your choice (see expiry date on your ticket)
  • Your ticket gives you access to the Laiterie de la Reine 1 hour after the time indicated on your ticket, this slot will be reserved for you
  • The Chaumière aux coquillages is closed to visits due to sanitary measures
  • Strollers are large bags and suitcases are forbidden, there are no left-luggage facilities
  • People with disabilities and their companions, participants under 18 years old and European Union residents under 26 years old may enter free of charge on presentation of ID (other freebies to be seen on site)
    PLEASE NOTE: all beneficiaries of free admission must pass through the ticket office to check their proof of entitlement
  • Free admission on the first Sunday of each month only from November to March
  • The visit to the exhibition "Rambouillet 1950, Dans l'intimité du Président" is included in your ticket, however it is mandatory to reserve a time slot (instructions indicated on your confirmation voucher)
  • Access to the château is free on the 1st Sunday of the month (from February 1 to May 31)
  • The Château de Rambouillet will be closed from August 31 to September 9 and from November 8 to 10
  • Please note that all tickets issued are non-cancellable, non-changeable and non-refundable

*From October 1 to March 29 10am to 12pm / 1:30pm to 5pm. From March 30 to September 30: 10am to 12pm / 1:30pm to 6pm
